In this year marking the centenary of his birth, Haiti celebrates one of its most powerful and freest voices. Born on August 29, 1924, in Jacmel, Depestre traversed the century, making poetry a space of resistance, exile, revolt, and renewal. As early as 1945, with \u00c9tincelles, he announced the brilliance of a major work, nourished by passion, struggles, and an unending love of language.
