A strong symbolic step for the decentralization of technology in our country.

Despite the presence of a Haitian robotics team and despite several performances on the international stage, there was never any question of a national robotics tournament in Haiti. This year, the federation overseeing this discipline deemed it appropriate to change the situation.

The Haitian robotics team has its sights set on two tournaments that will take place in Australia and South Korea. In June 2026, Haiti will participate in the International Cyber Olympiad in AI (ICOA) in Sydney, Australia. Then, Team Haiti will return to Seoul in October 2026 for the next First Global Challenge. On the microphone of the newspaper Le Nouvelliste, Mrs. Robby led people to believe that the teams are preparing for the 2025-2026 FTC season, under the theme “decode,” presented by RTX. “This challenge pushes students to explore the depths of technology and communication,” she argued. The training sessions are conducted intensely with students coming from several schools in the Jacmel Valley. Under the supervision of several mentors, the sessions focus on mechanics, Java coding, and match strategy, according to Mrs. Robby.

“Today, the young people from Educàre are no longer just competitors; they have become coaches and mentors. They now supervise 126 participants from 20 different schools,” said Mrs. Robby to the microphone of the newspaper Le Nouvelliste.Presence of 9 teams, 5 institutions represented

This season, the Haitian Robotics Federation has 9 validated teams. Several institutions, five in total, have two teams: one for the classic FTC challenge and one for the XRP category. The Madeleine Morano Institution (IMM) has two: Lux Mentis (FTC) and Morano Robotics 2026 (XRP).

The IDEPH of Jacmel also has two teams: Ignis Mentis (FTC) and IDEPH of Jacmel (XRP). While the Institute Enfance et Demain has only one team: inEd (FTC), the International Christian Academy will rely on two: ICA P.R.I.M.E (FTC) and Icarus (XRP).

The remaining two teams are part of the École Nouvelle de la Vallée. These are École Nouvelle de la Vallée (FTC) & Vallee (ENV) (XRP). This is how the nine teams of the tournament are distributed.

“Having two teams per school allows us to include studentsdifferent technical levels and to ensure a solid succession,” explained the Deputy Coordinator of Team Haiti for the First Tech Challenge (FTC), Ms. Robby.

Ms. Robby Leondas was born on October 6, 1998, in Port-au-Prince. Trained as a doctor, she currently serves as the Deputy Coordinator of Team Haiti for the First Tech Challenge (FTC). FTC is an international robotics competition organized in dozens of countries around the world.

Teams of young people (ages 12-18) design, build, and program robots to tackle technical challenges during these competitions. An extraordinary springboard.

Mrs. Robby works under the main coordination of Dr. Giovanni Florville. As the communications manager at Educàre, her mission is to carry the voice and technological ambitions of Haitian youth onto the global stage.

Haiti’s past in robotics (FGC)

Haiti has been participating in the FGC since 2017. It is important to note that Educàre took over the management of Team Haiti four years ago, during the Singapore edition. Since then, young Haitians have reached historic heights, notably in 2024 with a Bronze Medal (Al-Khwarizmi Award) and a place in the Top 10 of the world’s most innovative projects.

In Jacmel, the national robotics tournament will take place on May 16, 2026, at the Jacmel Convention Center.
