Under the initiative of the Engaged Citizens of Verrettes (CEV), a member of the Coordination of Popular Resistance of Artibonite, the demonstrators, with tree branches and placards in hand, marched through the main streets of Verrettes, from Coupon to the city police station, shouting harsh slogans against the police authorities of the department.\u2018\u2019We do not agree to live with gangs,\u2019\u2019 \u2018\u2019The Kokorat gang without race and the Great Claw Savien must be crushed,\u2019\u2019 \u2018\u2019Justice for the policemen and brigadiers who fell,\u2019\u2019 such are some of the statements that the crowd was singing aloud.Coordinator of the organization Citizens Engaged of Verrettes, Me Fernand\u00e8s Paul, requested the dismissal of the departmental director of the National Police of Haiti and the chief commissioner of Saint-Marc Lyvenson Gauthier, “for passivity and incompetence,” and demanded “the immediate reopening of the Liancourt road,” connecting Verrettes and Saint-Marc.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“The people of Verrettes are truly isolated. The impassability of the road section leading to Saint-Marc and the establishment of the Niel toll post by the Grand Grif gang create a lot of concern for us,” emphasized Me Paul, stating that “the people of Verrettes have long been struggling to free themselves from this unacceptable situation. But, due to the negligence of the departmental police director, no solution has been found.”The demonstration of the Engaged Citizens of Verrettes denounced “the assassination of police officers, including the operations officer Pierre Emmanuel Germain and Brigadier Claubens Petit.” The organizers accuse the departmental police authorities of the tragic death of the specialized police officers on May 29, 2026.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
