For its first participation in a World Cup since 1974, Haiti is about to experience a historic moment. The Grenadiers will compete against Scotland before facing Brazil and Morocco in the group stage. Guest on the show Panel Magik on Magik 9, former president of the Haitian Football Federation, Yves “Dadou” Jean-Bart, shared his thoughts on the competition and gave some advice to the national team.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
While many observers are already naming certain nations as tournament favorites, Dadou Jean-Bart believes that no team is guaranteed success. “I don’t think there is an absolute favorite,” he said. Regarding Haiti, he reminds that the team is still a small one on the global stage and that many players haven\u2019t had the chance to play together for long.According to him, teamwork will be essential. He emphasizes that we should above all focus on “fieldwork, training, unity, and motivation.” This reality is partly explained by the fact that Haitian internationals play in different leagues and at various levels.The former leader also believes that the Grenadiers\u2019 qualification goes beyond just sports. \u201cI think it\u2019s God who\u2019s bringing this light to Haiti,\u201d he said, referring to the country\u2019s presence at the World Cup. For him, this participation is also an opportunity to bring Haitians together around football. \u201cWe can unite the country around the round ball,\u201d he added, while urging the players to stay connected to their roots and values.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Speaking directly to the Grenadiers, Dadou Jean-Bart advised them to approach the competition with humility, but without giving up on their ambitions. \u201cI believe we should be more modest in our mindset and take a lot of precautions. We have to have a humble mindset, but be brave and rebellious like November 18. We can work a miracle,\u201d he said.As the first match against Scotland approaches, the Grenadiers know that the task ahead will be tough.
