The Hydrometeorological Unit has kept its alert level due to a significant heatwave that continues to affect the entire Haitian territory.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In its weather bulletin published on Friday, June 26, 2026, and valid until June 28, the institution forecasts generally hot, hazy, and relatively dry weather due to the persistent presence of Saharan dust and a high-pressure system over the region.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to UHM forecasts, maximum temperatures will range between 34\u00b0C and 38\u00b0C across the country, while minimum temperatures will fluctuate between 18\u00b0C and 22\u00b0C.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The sky will mostly remain clear, becoming locally cloudy in the late afternoon and evening.A few isolated showers could still occur, mainly in some areas of the West department.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In Port-au-Prince, temperatures could reach up to 37\u00b0C over the weekend.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The capital will also experience hot, hazy, and sometimes windy weather, with a low risk of evening rainfall in certain neighborhoods.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In response to these high temperatures, UHM recommends that people take several preventive measures to limit the risks associated with the heat.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Authorities especially encourage citizens to drink water regularly, avoid prolonged sun exposure between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m., wear light clothing, and reduce physical activity during the hottest hours of the day.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The institution also calls for particular vigilance toward the most vulnerable people.Children, the elderly, and individuals with chronic illnesses are considered the most vulnerable to the effects of extreme heat episodes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The UHM, however, announces a gradual change in weather conditions starting this Saturday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to forecasters, a high-altitude trough in the north of the country could destabilize the atmosphere and promote the development of sometimes heavy showers accompanied by thunderstorms.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
These showers are expected to mainly affect the Grand South regions as well as certain areas of the West and Artibonite during the afternoons and evenings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Weather authorities are urging people to regularly follow the upcoming bulletins to stay informed about the evolution of weather conditions over the next few days.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
