The Haitian government is continuing its efforts to modernize the judicial system, presenting it as a key lever to restore the rule of law and create the conditions needed for organizing credible elections.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Prime Minister Alix Didier Fils-Aim\u00e9, accompanied by the Minister of Justice and Public Security, Patrick P\u00e9lissier, chaired a strategic workshop on June 26 that brought together judges from the two specialized judicial divisions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The meeting gathered several high-level judicial authorities as well as technical and financial partners involved in supporting the justice sector in Haiti.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The work focused on several priorities aimed at strengthening the functioning of judicial institutions.The participants specifically discussed the operationalization of specialized judicial units, the handling of priority cases, strengthening the institutional framework, as well as the resources needed to improve the efficiency of the judicial system.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to the authorities, these reforms should help strengthen judicial independence and increase public confidence in institutions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The international partners present reaffirmed their support for the efforts made by the government.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
This support is expected to include programs to build the capacity of judges, training for forensic doctors, as well as the rehabilitation of the Forensic Institute.In his speech, Alix Didier Fils-Aim\u00e9 paid tribute to the judges for their commitment to serving the Republic despite the challenges the judicial system still faces.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The head of the government also said he wants to gradually improve their working conditions and pay.”There can be no democracy, security, or credible elections without a strong, independent, and fully operational justice system,” said the Prime Minister.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to him, strengthening the justice system is one of the pillars of the government’s strategy to sustainably restore institutional stability.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Authorities believe that improving the functioning of specialized courts will help better fight impunity and ensure more effective handling of sensitive cases.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The government also sees the consolidation of judicial institutions as a key step in preparing the electoral process and returning to constitutional order.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Through this initiative, the executive intends to continue reforms aimed at modernizing the justice system and reinforcing the rule of law for the benefit of the entire population.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
