The Prime Minister’s Office reports that this budget was reached in mutual agreement with the PEC…

In a statement released on Friday, July 3, “the Prime Minister’s Office and the Provisional Electoral Council (PEC) inform the general public that, following several working sessions held in a spirit of dialogue, transparency, and institutional responsibility, the two institutions have reached an agreement on the budget to fund electoral operations.”

According to the Prime Minister’s Office, these discussions, led under the authority of the Prime Minister and the president of the Provisional Electoral Council, received technical support from the teams at the Ministry of Economy and Finance (MEF), who conducted a thorough review of the various components of the electoral budget.

The government claims that this assessment was carried out ‘based on realistic assumptions, taking into account, in particular, the logistical and organizational requirements of the election, the gradual improvement of the security situation, the resumption of traffic in some currently hard-to-reach areas, as well as the state’s financial capacities and the principles of sound public finance management.’“At the end of this work, the Prime Minister’s Office and the Provisional Electoral Council jointly agreed on an amount of one hundred and twenty million (120,000,000) US dollars for the implementation of electoral operations.
