Haitian artist \u00c9douard Duval-Carri\u00e9 is showcasing a major exhibition called From Venice With Love in Miami Beach, on view at The Betsy hotel until November 15, 2026. The exhibition, displayed throughout the public spaces of the venue, coincides with the artist\u2019s simultaneous presence at the 61st International Art Exhibition of the Venice Biennale, offering an extension of his contemporary work in Florida.Based in Miami for several decades, \u00c9douard Duval-Carri\u00e9 is one of the key figures in contemporary art connected to the Caribbean and the African diaspora. His works mix painting, sculpture, and mixed media to explore themes like Caribbean history, migrations, memory, voodoo spirituality, and the cultural ties between Haiti and Africa.The exhibition is organized by Carl-Philippe Juste, a Haitian-American visual historian and cultural storyteller, and a Pulitzer Prize winner. According to the organizers, From Venice With Love turns The Betsy into an immersive experience that goes beyond the traditional gallery space, spilling into the lobby, hallways, common areas, and the hotel\u2019s architectural art platform, \u201cThe Betsy Orb.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The exhibition opened on August 1, 2026, featuring several installations, including Ode to the Everglades, a monumental work displayed in the hotel lobby. This installation will remain on view even after the exhibition closes, lasting through Miami Art Week.Starting August 9, the project will be enhanced with twenty-six light boxes installed in the BBar, as well as an immersive digital installation projected onto \u201cThe Betsy Orb.\u201d This projection, adapted and directed by Carl-Philippe Juste, combines Duval-Carri\u00e9\u2019s works with a visual creation synchronized to music. It will be visible from the restored walkway connecting Ocean Drive to Collins Avenue.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Beyond the exhibition itself, From Venice With Love is presented as a community initiative developed by The Betsy Writer\u2019s Room and the FIU Public Humanities Lab, with support from several cultural and institutional partners in Miami. Free public programs, academic talks, and artistic performances will accompany the exhibition to create spaces for dialogue around Caribbean art and the African diaspora.Located in the heart of South Beach’s Art Deco district, The Betsy is known for its commitment to visual arts, literature, jazz, and artist residencies. All exhibitions, installations, and cultural activities related to From Venice With Love are announced as free and open to the public.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
