A civil engineer graduated from the Caribbean University, holding a master\u2019s degree in project management from Quisqueya University (UniQ) and trained in construction management at Valencia College in Florida, Ribais Robuste has been working for over 18 years in the fields of construction, infrastructure, humanitarian aid, and community development.He has just reached a new milestone in his journey by obtaining the Project Management Professional (PMP) certification, an international benchmark in the field of project management. For this Haitian professional living in the United States, this certification represents both the culmination of a long learning process and a new challenge to tackle. “I wanted to compare my experience with the standards of the Project Management Institute, step out of my comfort zone, and test my ability to meet the international demands of the profession,” Mr. Robuste explained.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Ribais Robuste’s professional plan, however, was not originally to become a project manager. His first goal was to earn a degree in civil engineering. But his experiences in entrepreneurship and the humanitarian sector gradually led him to broaden his range of skills.”I quickly realized that technical skills alone were not enough,” he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Creating sustainable jobs, managing resources, coordinating teams, and implementing high-impact projects made him aware of the need to also master the organizational, financial, and strategic aspects of projects.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
It was with this in mind that he joined the project management master’s program at UniQ. A training program that, according to him, played a decisive role in the evolution of his professional profile.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Over the course of his career, Ribais Robuste has worked with several institutions. His experience spans various fields related to project execution: building and rehabilitating schools, housing, healthcare facilities, sanitation works, and other community infrastructures.In addition to these achievements, there are responsibilities in planning, bidding, budget and schedule tracking, contract management, quality control, and team supervision.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
For Robuste, project management is more than a set of methods and tools; it\u2019s a way to turn community needs into concrete and sustainable results.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
A professional and personal challenge<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Getting the PMP wasn\u2019t an easy process. Preparing for the exam required balancing multiple responsibilities, especially work and family life. \u201cI had to carefully organize my time between work, family, studies, and other responsibilities, sometimes working early in the morning or late at night,\u201d Ribais Robuste shared.The many trips between Haiti and other countries also complicated his organization. On top of that were the difficulties related to coordinating his activities in Haiti remotely, in a context marked by technological constraints, communication problems, and tough financial realities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
So, preparing for the PMP exam required patience, discipline, and organization. After submitting his file proving his professional experience and completing the trainings required by the Project Management Institute, Ribais Robuste dedicated himself to many practice exams.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
These tests helped him better understand the exam format, identify his weaknesses, improve his time management, and boost his confidence.”It wasn’t just about memorizing concepts, but about understanding the logic of project management and adopting a true project manager mindset,” he clarified.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“Being among the Haitian professionals who have reached this level in the United States is, above all, an immense source of pride, but also a symbol of resilience and perseverance,” Mr. Robuste said happily.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
This achievement also strengthens his entrepreneurial commitment and his desire to contribute to the development of his community. Coming from a modest family and being the youngest in his family, Ribais Robuste says he hopes to make his journey a source of inspiration for young Haitians, especially those from Cavaillon, his hometown. “I want to tell young Haitians to never let the difficulties of their environment define the limits of their ambitions,” he declared.Ribais Robuste now wants to put his expertise at the service of other people. His approach to project management goes beyond the boundaries of companies or large organizations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Mr. Robuste aims to support entrepreneurs, students, farmers, and organizations as a coach and trainer, to help them turn their ideas into concrete achievements.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In the longer term, his ambition is to use his skills for public, private, and non-governmental institutions in Haiti to contribute to the planning, management, and execution of projects that can promote the country\u2019s sustainable development.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
