The Minister of Foreign Affairs and Religious Affairs, Raina Forbin, welcomed a high-level delegation this Sunday, led by the Secretary General of the Organization of American States (OAS), Albert R. Ramdin, and the Secretary General of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM), Carla Barnett.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The meeting took place in the presence of the Minister of Defense, Mario Andr\u00e9sol, and the President of the Provisional Electoral Council (CEP), Jacques Desrosiers. It marks the start of an official visit of several days in Haiti.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The delegation will stay in the country from August 16 to 19, 2026. This mission brings together several representatives from partner organizations of the inter-American system and the United Nations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Among the institutions represented are notably the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), the Development Bank of Latin America and the Caribbean (CAF), the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO), the Inter-American Defense Board (IADB), and the Inter-American Institute for Cooperation on Agriculture (IICA).This visit comes in a context marked by election preparations, security challenges, and efforts to strengthen international support for Haiti. The joint presence of OAS and CARICOM officials opens a new series of discussions with Haitian authorities on the country’s priorities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The participation of the CEP president in welcoming the delegation also comes as issues related to the electoral process play a significant role in discussions between Haitian authorities and their regional partners.During their stay, representatives from the different organizations need to continue consultations with the Haitian authorities and relevant stakeholders about the main issues the country is facing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
