This meeting is part of a joint mission taking place from August 16 to 19 in Port-au-Prince.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size wp-block-paragraph\">According to a statement released by the Prime Minister&#8217;s office, this visit reflects the international community&#8217;s desire to strengthen its support for the Haitian people and institutions in a context considered crucial for the country&#8217;s future. &#8220;It is specifically aimed at consolidating cooperation around national priorities such as security, the electoral process, humanitarian needs, and the revival of development,&#8221; the statement emphasized.\u201cThe exchanges between the Prime Minister and the delegation focused in particular on the government&#8217;s efforts to restore security and create the necessary conditions for holding credible, inclusive, and transparent elections. Restoring elected institutions is essential for Haiti&#8217;s democratic future and to build the stability and trust needed for the country&#8217;s recovery. Security and sustainable development are crucial for this effort and must progress alongside the electoral process,\u201d said the OAS Secretary General.Albert Ramdin reaffirmed the OAS&#8217;s commitment to supporting Haitian-led efforts towards credible, inclusive, and peaceful elections, respecting the country&#8217;s sovereignty and leadership. \u201cWe discussed the importance of speeding up the preparation of the electoral register and strengthening civic information campaigns so that as many Haitians as possible can exercise their right to participate. The OAS is ready to provide technical cooperation throughout the electoral process and, when the time comes, election observation,\u201d announced Albert Ramdin.The P4000 program and support for the HNP mentioned<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size wp-block-paragraph\">On the security side, the delegation acknowledged the ongoing efforts to strengthen national institutions, particularly the Haitian National Police (HNP). These efforts include the P4000 program, supported by the U.S. Department of State\u2019s Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs. \u201cThe OAS contributes through complementary initiatives, including advanced operational bases, strengthening the HNP&#8217;s capabilities, and cooperating with the judicial police to enhance the tracking of illicit financial flows. Lasting stability will require continued international support, strengthened Haitian capacities, and effective coordination,\u201d said the OAS Secretary General after the meeting.The development section<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size wp-block-paragraph\">The discussions also highlighted that Haiti&#8217;s democratic recovery must be accompanied by hope and opportunities for the population, according to Albert Ramdin. &#8220;Our conversations also emphasized that Haiti&#8217;s democratic recovery must bring hope and opportunities to its people. The participation of the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), the Development Bank of Latin America and the Caribbean (CAF), and the World Bank allowed us to explore initiatives supporting Haiti&#8217;s longer-term development.
