This note is addressed to agricultural and rural stakeholders, including farmers, farmer organizations, private operators, and technical and financial partners. The end of the agricultural development policy, originally scheduled for December 2025, is now postponed to June 30, 2027.According to the MARNDR, it is absolutely necessary to ensure the continuity of interventions in the short, medium, and long term within a strategic framework, despite the expiration of the agricultural development policy, because of the economic and security vulnerability context. Throughout the extension period, the priorities and strategic directions will not be changed.

Indeed, three main priority areas are planned within the agricultural development policy: the development of rural infrastructure; the development of sectors; and the development and improvement of agricultural services and institutional support. When it comes to the development of rural infrastructure, it’s carried out through investments in the rehabilitation and construction of irrigated areas, agricultural tracks, and watershed management works. “Priority is given to the development of watersheds directly linked to irrigation areas, as well as to the establishment and strengthening of irrigators’ associations,” the memorandum says.

As for the development of sectors, it focuses on upstream support activities, like access to inputs, according to the memorandum. It also concerns downstream activities, for example, the storage, processing, and marketing of products from sectors considered promising.Through the third main priority, called “Development and Improvement of Agricultural Services and Institutional Support,” the MARNDR aims to strengthen essential public goods and services to create and maintain an environment that supports farmers and agricultural businesses who want to sustainably increase their income and manage risks in the agricultural sector.

During this extension period, the memorandum notes that the government, together with stakeholders in the agricultural sector, will need to develop, finalize, approve, and share new strategic documents, including the 2026-2046 Agricultural Development Policy and the 2026-2031 National Agricultural Investment Plan.

“An extension of the implementation period for a duration of a year and a half (18 months) has been granted to the 2010-2025 agricultural development policy,” the Ministry of Agriculture,…

[44

57
post-7219","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-economy
["GET
