An additional envelope of 1.8 billion dollars in US humanitarian funding will allow the United Nations and its partners to scale up their emergency relief operations and assist millions of people around the world, even as the surge in humanitarian needs and the lack of funding force many agencies to cut back on their assistance programs.
An additional envelope of 1.8 billion dollars in U.S. humanitarian funding will allow the United Nations and its partners to scale up emergency relief operations and assist millions of people around the world, even as the explosion of humanitarian needs and the lack of funding force many agencies to reduce their aid programs.
Announced Wednesday by the United States, this new funding brings the total amount of U.S. humanitarian aid recently channeled through the United Nations system to 3.8 billion dollars, following an initial allocation of 2 billion dollars revealed in December.
