The General Directorate of Migration (DGM) of the Dominican Republic has confirmed that Haitian businessman Dimitri Albert Edouard Vorbe is banned from entering the country, under a decree issued on October 13, 2025, and based on a notification from the National Intelligence Directorate of the Dominican Republic, Dominican Today reported on Wednesday, May 13, 2026.

In a statement published on its X account, the DGM said that Mr. Vorbe “will not enter Dominican territory,” reaffirming at the same time that this travel restriction remains in effect, according to the Dominican media. This announcement comes after the U.S. authorities authorized the expulsion of Mr. Vorbe, who is currently being held at the Krome Processing Center following his arrest in September 2025 by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) in Florida, according to Dominican Today. Dimitri Vorbe and the U.S. government reached an agreement for the latter “to be deported to the Dominican Republic,” revealed lawyer Frandley Denis Julien on Tuesday, May 12, 2026. Federal Judge Darrin Gayles approved this agreement, explicitly emphasizing that Mr. Vorbe cannot be deported to Haiti.
