Prime Minister Alix Didier Fils-Aimé participated, on Saturday, May 9, 2026, in a mass for peace in Haiti. Celebrated at the Basilica of Saint Mary Major, this mass was presided over by the Vatican Secretary of State, Cardinal Pietro Parolin.
In his homily, Pietro Parolin prayed for the restoration of peace in Haiti as well as for peacebuilders around the world, recalling that after his resurrection, it was with a ‘desire for peace that Jesus appeared before the ecclesial community’We can therefore say that peace is the first gift of the risen one and the proof of his presence, so that acquiring Christ involves the mission of building peace. ‘Where Christ is, there peace follows,’ affirmed Pietro Parolin, specifying that the peace offered by Christ is different from that of the world, often imposed, according to him, ‘through violence and deceit.’
