The United States Supreme Court struck down the decree signed by President Donald Trump that aimed to restrict birthright citizenship. In a 6-3 decision, the justices confirmed that American citizenship is automatically granted to any child born on U.S. soil, in line with the 14th Amendment of the Constitution. The presidential order had tried to end the automatic granting of citizenship to children born to parents who were either in the country illegally or on temporary visas.
