The Director General of the National Police of Haiti, André Jonas Vladimir Paraison, called at the 5th United Nations Chiefs of Police Summit (UNCOPS 2026) for stronger international cooperation to fight illegal arms trafficking and transnational criminal networks. He denounced the ongoing supply of weapons to armed groups despite the embargo, noting that their methods are similar to those of terrorist organizations, according to the PNH. Mr. Paraison also reminded that the security crisis in Haiti is fueled by transnational networks linked to arms trafficking, drug trafficking, and money laundering.
