The Embassy of Japan in Haiti and the Organization of American States (OAS) reached a cooperation agreement for social services on Tuesday, August 18, 2026.

The Embassy of Japan in Haiti and the Organization of American States (OAS) signed a cooperation agreement for social services on Tuesday, August 18, 2026. The agreement includes Japanese funding to support several initiatives in Haiti. The project mainly focuses on the rehabilitation of infrastructure and the installation of equipment. It also plans to strengthen the capacities of the relevant institutions to improve access to social services for the population. OAS Secretary General Albert R. Ramdin and the Ambassador of Japan to Haiti, Nishiuchi Kazuhiko, signed the agreement. The ceremony took place at the headquarters of the National Identification Office (ONI) in the presence of the Minister of Justice, Patrick Pélissier, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Raina Forbin, and the Director General of ONI, Reynold Guerrier.
