The Minister of Commerce and Industry, James Monazard, received, on Monday, April 27, 2026, the FAO (Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations) representative in Haiti, Pierre Vauthier, during a courtesy visit. The discussions focused on the development of the mango, fishing, and cocoa sectors, with a view to creating a joint MCI–FAO–MARNDR commission. Both parties emphasized the importance of involving the private sector and identified priority areas, such as quality control for mangoes, training for fishermen, and cocoa processing. This collaboration is part of the FAO’s “Hand in Hand” program, aimed at promoting a sustainable partnership for the benefit of the Haitian economy.
