This resilience demonstrated by the banking system is based on several indicators, cited by Henriette Chaperon, who was part of a panel composed of Djemsy Delphin, from the Directorate of Bank Supervision.and financial institutions, just like her and Riphard Sérent, the moderator. The first leading indicator is that of profitability. “The profitability rate was 1.89% in 2021; it dropped slightly until 2024 to around 1.02% before rising slightly to 1.27 in 2025,” said Ms. Chaperon, emphasizing that the profitability rate never fell below 1%, which constitutes the minimum allowed.
Another indicator to assess the banks’ ability to absorb shocks is the stability index. In this regard, the required limit is 2%. The Haitian banking system has never fallen below the required limit, according to Henriette Chaperon.
