The Haitian Cycling Federation (FHC) organized, on Sunday, May 17, 2026, in Darbonne, Léogâne, a major national criterium called “Ann ale Pedale pou lapè retounen an Ayiti,” as a prelude to the celebration of the Haitian flag. Supported by the Prime Minister’s Office, the Haitian Olympic Committee (COH), and the solidarity of the International Cycling Union (UCI), the competition also served as a test for young talents preparing for the Road Cycling World Championships scheduled in Montreal in September 2026.
On a road transformed for the occasion into a competition circuit, the female and male categories competed in demanding races. In the under-20 girls’ category, eleven cyclists started a 40-kilometer race. In the men’s open category, twenty-five riders set off over a distance of 120 kilometers. The delegation from Les Cayes largely marked the day. Among the women, Louisemène Georges came out ahead of Ousline Georges, thus offering a double win for the southern city. Francesca Souverain, from Léogâne, completed the podium after a hard-fought race. Médgine Staco, also from Les Cayes, finished just off the podium.
