In a town hit by insecurity and a lack of opportunities, the youth of Carrefour choose to make their voices heard through culture. With the launch of the interschool contest ‘Ann Chante Kreyòl’, dozens of students take the stage to sing, create, and assert that, despite the difficulties, hope and talent continue to endure.
The Emmanuel Charlemagne Municipal Cultural Center hosted, last Friday, the official launch of the second edition of the ‘Ann Chante Kreyòl’ contest, an initiative led by L’ORIOL PRODZ. From the first session, more than a dozen schoolchildren braved a difficult environment to take the stage and deliver their first performances. Between stress and determination, the contestants demonstrated that, despite the obstacles, artistic expression remains a refuge and a means of hope. The second session, held on Thursday, April 30, confirmed this enthusiasm. The school audience turned out in large numbers to support the participants, transforming the cultural space into a true place of gathering, solidarity, and mutual encouragement. In a town often described as abandoned, this mobilization sends a strong signal: the youth refuse to sink into silence.
