A company official, on the other hand, explained that this production reduction is due to scheduled maintenance on the engines that has been in place for a year.
In a public notice dated August 5, the state-owned company explains that under current contractual commitments, E-Power is required to supply it with 30 megawatts. However, according to EDH, production has fallen to only 14 to 15 megawatts for more than a week, causing a significant deficit in the available production capacity.EDH says that this power reduction directly affects the electricity supply to several areas of the capital and is the cause of the outages that have been happening for seven days.
The public company says it is aware of the inconvenience caused to its customers and adds that it is continuing talks with E-Power to get things back to normal as soon as possible. They assure that electricity distribution will be gradually restored once the full contracted power is available again.According to a source at E-Power, this drop in production is due to maintenance work on the engines. “We just got back from the World Cup where we were running at full capacity. This maintenance had to be done. Otherwise, we would have faced the consequences when schools reopened. This maintenance was planned from the beginning of the year and approved by EDH,” explained the source, who didn’t want to get into a debate with the state-owned company.
