Ministers, representatives from the financial system, and the business sector attended the inauguration ceremony of the new BRH Board of Directors. Three members of the outgoing board were reappointed to the new board. These are Governor Ronald Gabriel, Michèle Delerme, and Florian Jean-Marie. The latter has moved up to a higher position: General Manager of BRH. Before joining the BRH Board of Directors in October 2023, Mr. Jean-Marie was the coordinator of the National Public Procurement Council (CNMP). As for Michèle Delerme, she has 31 years of experience at BRH, where she spent about twenty years as director of the legal affairs department.

Ronald Gabriel has been a member of the BRH Board of Directors for 11 years, and he has been reappointed for a second term as the head of the board. An expert in monetary policy and economic analysis, he has over 35 years of experience at the central bank. Before joining the BRH Board of Directors in 2015, he served as the BRH’s chief economist for 12 years. In 2019, Mr. Gabriel served as the BRH’s Director General before becoming governor four years later.

There are two newcomers to the board: Guerly Leriche as vice-governor and Edwige Jean as a member. The latter held the position of director of the BRH’s International Affairs Department for 19 years before this promotion. As for Mr. Guerly Leriche, the new vice-governor, he is described as a lawyer and governance specialist with over 15 years of experience in the banking, legal, and institutional sectors. In his speech for the occasion, Governor Ronald Gabriel placed this installation ceremony within a special framework of institutional continuity, in order to stay true to the tradition of alternation and be operational to ensure the permanence of statutory obligations and guide policy conduct based on the efficiency of past actions. He paid tribute to Jean Henri Fils, the outgoing vice-governor who spent 18 years on the board of directors of the BRH, and to Mathieu Fortunat, the outgoing director general. The latter had worked at the National Bank of the Republic of Haiti in 1978.

“The BRH is ready on two strategic levels of performance and achievement,” said BRH Governor Ronald Gabriel. The first level is more short-term, focusing on consolidating the gains made over decades of managing financial and institutional issues, especially during the past three years. The second level is more structural, involving updating ongoing projects and starting new ones aimed at positioning BRH’s actions within policies that should help move Haiti toward sustainable development.”

The search for better efficiency conditions for the central bank’s intervention tools, the improvement of the moral persuasion capacity of the monetary authority, and the strengthening of the institutional engineering of the BRH in the long term constituted the three main guiding directions of the outgoing board’s agenda. “At the end of the outgoing board’s term, the results are clear and speak for themselves,” said Governor Ronald Gabriel.

“Building continuity in the conditions for implementing a vision, not different, but adapted to the new reality we want to create. This reality will be made up of this institutional renewal that is emerging on the horizon for the country. The approach of the new board will be to strengthen the actions undertaken in recent years and to project the elements of policies that the necessary agenda of finally regained growth will require,” announced Governor Ronald Gabriel, speaking of the…For his part, Prime Minister Alix Didier Fils-Aimé, in his speech, explained the reasons for choosing the Antonio André Convention and Documentation Center, located at the bottom of the city, for the installation ceremony. From his point of view, this sends a message to show his government’s commitment to gradually restoring a favorable climate for the revival of activities in that part of the capital.

Addressing the members of the new board of directors of the BRH, the head of government expressed his confidence that they, by accepting these positions, are aware of the challenges, the expectations of the government and the population, as well as the achievements that need to be consolidated. “They must contribute to continuing the disinflation process observed since November 2025 in the economy. This is an important element in the framework of macroeconomic stability goals and socioeconomic promotion pursued by the government,” said Prime Minister Alix Didier Fils-Aimé, praising the progress made by the BRH over the past three years.Regarding the security crisis, the head of the government argued that a lasting solution to this problem will come through the renewal of political personnel via good elections and in respect of the democratic aspirations of the Haitian people.
