The Provisional Electoral Council (CEP) carried out, on Wednesday, August 19, 2026, the drawing of campaign numbers assigned to approved political parties and groups in preparation for the upcoming elections. The event, held in the presence of party representatives, national and international partners, as well as the media, involved 88 political parties and 17 political groups. The CEP clarified that the numbers were assigned by a lottery, following a transparent procedure using two drums containing, respectively, the names of the political formations and the available numbers. At the end of the process, the CEP made public the list of the 105 political entities along with the numbers assigned to them. The Electoral Council also noted that candidate registration opens this Thursday, August 20, 2026.
