The Haitian 5×5 basketball team has a new coach. It is Nick Friedman. He will be the one to lead the team during the pre-qualifications for the FIBA AmeriCup 2029.
The Haitian Basketball Federation (FHB) has chosen Nick Friedman as the new head coach of the Haitian 5×5 basketball team. This decision is part of the Federation’s desire to strengthen technical support and revitalize the national team on the regional and international stage.
Nick Friedman, with a solid track record, has worked in several high-level organizations, notably in the NBA and G-League. He worked for several seasons with the Charlotte Hornets, where he contributed to the individual development of players as well as the implementation of offensive and defensive strategies.Nick Friedman’s time with different G-League teams also allowed him to stand out for his ability to improve team performance. Recently, he joined the staff of Wake Forest University as an assistant coach, after a successful experience with the Capital City Go-Go, a team with which he took part in a record season, both in terms of number of wins and defensive efficiency.Succeeding Ashley Prudent Salomon, Friedman has been working with the national team since 2017 as an assistant coach. Already familiar with the Haitian basketball environment, the new head coach of the Haitian basketball team has also been involved in initiatives aimed at promoting and developing the sport at the grassroots level.
He advanced by leaving the assistant position to rise to the role of head coach. By placing him at the helm of the national team, the Haitian Basketball Federation is relying on an experienced and committed profile to lead the team in its upcoming events, notably the FIBA AmeriCup 2029 pre-qualifications.
