The celebrations brought together several members of the Haitian diaspora in an atmosphere of patriotic pride and community solidarity.
The Embassy of the Republic of Haiti in Canada participated on Saturday, May 16, 2026, in several activities organized in the Toronto area as part of the 223rd anniversary of the Haitian flag.
A delegation led by Chargé d’affaires Françoise Suzan notably took part in the gala of the Haitian Association of Hamilton as well as in the activities of the Grouping of Haitian Organizations for High-Value Community Actions organized in Welland.
These gatherings brought together numerous members of the Haitian community in Canada around the values of solidarity, unity, and national pride associated with the Haitian flag.
The presence of the diplomatic delegation was welcomed by the participants and event organizers.On this occasion, the Haitian Association of Hamilton presented an honorary plaque to the Embassy of Haiti to highlight its involvement with the Haitian diaspora in Canada.
In her speech, Françoise Suzan emphasized the importance of community initiatives in passing down Haitian historical memory to the new generations living abroad.
She also recalled that these activities help to preserve the values of unity, solidarity, and national pride embodied by the Haitian flag.
Taking advantage of these gatherings, the Embassy also offered the service of issuing the National Identification Card (CIN) to members of the Haitian community.
