Through this agreement, signed on the U.S. side by Under Secretary of State Christopher Landau and on the Dominican side by Minister of Energy and Mines Joel Santos, the signatory countries set three main goals: improving energy security, promoting technological development, and expanding economic relations between the two countries, according to the Dominican paper Today. The satisfaction was evident in the speeches of the signatories after the agreement was signed. On the American side, State Department officials emphasized the importance of nuclear technology, which has many civil applications, particularly in electricity generation, medical diagnosis, cancer treatment, agriculture, and scientific research.This agreement could pave the way for future projects and increased technical cooperation in these areas.

For his part, the Dominican Minister of Energy and Mines, Joel Santos, speaking after the signing, highlighted the benefits of this nuclear cooperation. It will promote collaboration in areas such as nuclear medicine, the production of radioisotopes, scientific research, training of specialized personnel, and strengthening institutional capacities related to nuclear technology.
