The gunman who tried to burst into a press gala in Washington attended by Donald Trump appeared to be targeting senior officials in the US administration, the Attorney General said Sunday, with the US President calling the assailant a “crazy” man.
The gunman who tried to burst into a press gala in Washington attended by Donald Trump appeared to be targeting senior officials in the US administration, the Attorney General said Sunday, while the US president called the assailant a “nutcase.”
“Very preliminary” information leads investigators to believe the man “was targeting members of the Trump administration,” Acting Attorney General Todd Blanche told CBS News.
The gunman “is not actively cooperating,” but investigators believe he traveled to Washington by train from Los Angeles via Chicago, said Blanche, who was also at the dinner along with hundreds of other people.
