The son of the former Haitian president claims that several areas of uncertainty persist despite the convictions handed down in the United States.

Joverlein Moïse reacted to the verdict issued in Miami in the case related to the assassination of his father, former president Jovenel Moïse, who was killed on July 7, 2021.

In a statement released after the trial held in the United States, Joverlein Moïse believes that the four accused who were convicted were “justly convicted,” while affirming that no judicial decision can truly mend this loss.

According to him, the proceedings conducted before the U.S. federal court aimed in particular to establish the degree of involvement of the actors who operated on American soil in this case.

The son of the former head of state considers the Miami verdict as “a rare moment of accountability” in a context that he associates with impunity and the absence of justice in Haiti.
