The Ministry of Industry, Commerce and SMEs in the D.R. announced that fuel prices will remain unchanged for the week of May 9 to 15.

While fares remain stable on the main routes of the South, the East, the Cibao region, and Greater Santo Domingo, public transport drivers are exasperated by the rising fuel prices.

This situation has escalated in recent weeks due to the increase in the prices of gasoline, diesel, and LPG in the country, an increase that reflects tensions in the Middle East that emerged at the beginning of the year.

Listín Diario toured the public transport lines connecting Santo Domingo to the interior of the country and rural areas, where it observed the drivers’ discontent.
