“Currently, we have a project on innovation, a university start-up that is still in development. As part of this project, we organized a competition for universities at the metropolitan area level. The winner of this competition is none other than Quisqueya University, which, as a reward, will be provided with an incubator,” said James Monazard, Minister of Commerce and Industry (MCI), this Thursday on Magik 9 during the program Panel Magik. In total, eight incubators will be set up as part of this project across the country. Minister James Monazard has already announced the establishment of the second incubator in the southern part of the country during the upcoming month of June.Further on, the Minister of Commerce and Industry promised to support the best projects, among the most innovative proposed by young university students. The minister intends to help them find funding from technical and financial partners as well as financial institutions so that they can launch their start-ups. ‘The incubators will be equipped with computers and internet. There will also be mentors available to support the young university students,’ promised Mr. Monazard. In addition to academics, women are also taken into account by the MCI through a female entrepreneurship program. “Currently, the coordination team of this program is located in the North. So far, there is a cohort of 78 female beneficiaries, of whom 46% come from the far North, 40% from the far South, and 4% from the Western department, designated within the framework of the female entrepreneurship program,” said the MCI official.
