The Hydrometeorological Unit of Haiti (UHM) reports, in an official note, that 14 tropical storms and nine hurricanes, including three major ones of categories 3, 4, or 5 on the Saffir-Simpson scale, are expected for the 2026 cyclone season.

The Hydrometeorological Unit of Haiti (UHM) informs, in an official note, that 14 tropical storms and nine hurricanes, including three major ones of categories 3, 4, or 5 on the Saffir-Simpson scale, are expected for the 2026 cyclone season. It opened this Monday, June 1, in the Caribbean, the Gulf of Mexico, and the North Atlantic, and will end on November 30, 2026. On this occasion, the authorities encourage the press, public and private institutions, local authorities, as well as non-governmental organizations (NGOs) to strengthen collaboration, awareness, and preparedness actions. The population is invited to regularly follow official weather bulletins, identify high-risk areas, prepare a family emergency plan, secure homes, among other measures.
