On the eve of the fifth edition of DevExpo, the Banj organization held a press conference this Friday at the Montana Hotel to outline the main points of this event, which has become, since 2018, the main annual gathering of the Haitian tech ecosystem.

Scheduled for Saturday, June 6, the 2026 edition will focus on the theme “Shaping New Perspectives for the Haitian Economy through AI.” This year, the event is taking a big step by going truly national, with activities happening simultaneously in all ten departments of the country.Supported by Banj and a wide network of partners from the private sector, associations, and international development, DevExpo aims to bring together developers, entrepreneurs, startups, students, public institutions, and economic players around the opportunities offered by artificial intelligence.

During his talk, Banj’s founder, Marc Alain Boucicault, described AI as a ‘productivity revolution.’ He reminded the audience that Haiti had mainly been a consumer during previous major technological transformations, notably the Industrial Revolution and the rise of the Internet. According to him, the current challenge is to enable the country to also become a creator of solutions in order to fully benefit from this new technological wave.Several national and international figures are expected for the official speeches, including representatives from the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), UNICEF, Sogebank, as well as the Ministers of Economy and Finance and of Commerce and Industry. One of the highlights of the day will be a panel focused on economic opportunities related to artificial intelligence in Haiti. Government officials, as well as representatives from the financial sector, telecommunications, and the digital ecosystem, will take part to discuss growth and innovation prospects. The event will also host the final of the DevExpo AI Challenge 2026, dedicated to social impact projects. Five finalist teams are competing to share over five million gourdes in prizes.Specialized workshops on the digitalization of public services, the transformation of education, and the use of artificial intelligence tools will complete the program.
