Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum stated on Monday that her government would ensure that the opening ceremony of the World Cup in Mexico City would take place “in peace” on June 11, despite teacher protests blocking streets in the capital. “We will ensure (…) that the celebration of the World Cup inauguration goes well, in peace and tranquility,” Ms. Sheinbaum said during her traditional morning press conference.
