Donald Trump said on Sunday that the Strait of Hormuz would reopen after a peace agreement with Iran was signed on Friday, seeming to contradict one of his previous messages that suggested the immediate reopening of this strategic waterway.

With the opening of the strait as soon as the agreement is signed on Friday, in order to allow mine clearance, oil will flow again on both sides for the region and the whole world,” wrote on his Truth Social platform the US president, who had previously announced the reopening of the strait as well as the “immediate” lifting of the US naval blockade.

“This grand agreement will bring peace and security to the entire region,” he said.
