The Northeast Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCI-NE) brought together entrepreneurs, shopkeepers, institutional leaders, and economic development players on Wednesday, June 24, 2026, in Trou-du-Nord for a networking buffet aimed at boosting collaboration among the region’s various productive sectors.

Among the personalities present were the former Minister of Agriculture, Joanas Gué, the departmental director of the Ministry of Agriculture, Natural Resources, and Rural Development (MARNDR), agronomist Odibert Cothière, the departmental director of the Ministry of Youth, Sports, and Civic Action (MJSAC), Me Wilkens Joseph, the deputy delegate of the Trou-du-Nord district, Dr. Yvens Joseph, the mayoral assessor of Terrier-Rouge, Nadège François, as well as the former deputy of Trou-du-Nord, Donald Dorsainvil.

Through this initiative, the leaders of the CCI-NE aim to lay the groundwork for a new partnership between the public and private sectors to promote investments, job creation, and the development of key local industries, particularly agriculture, commerce, fishing, and entrepreneurship.A Shared Vision to Boost the Regional Economy

Speaking up, the president of the Northeast Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Diony Pierre, reminded everyone of the mission of the institution he leads. According to him, “the development of the Northeast must be based on a shared vision where entrepreneurs, producers, and authorities work together to create real economic opportunities.”

The head of the NECCI emphasized the need to encourage productive investments and support entrepreneurial initiatives that can generate growth in the local economy. Former minister Joanas Gué, for his part, outlined an overview of the many resources available in the Northeast. He spoke about the agricultural, energy, and ecological potential of the region, while emphasizing the importance of its natural resources for sustainable development. “The Northeast has the necessary assets to become a real engine of national production,” he stated.

The former head of MARNDR also stressed the strategic importance of the sea in regional economic development. He specifically mentioned the potential of Caracol Bay for marine salt production, noting that this sector could help reduce the country’s reliance on imports. He encouraged investors and authorities to further support national production to make the most of local resources.Addressing the issue of infrastructure, Joanas Gué pointed out that improving the road network remains an essential condition for economic development. According to him, well-maintained roads would make it easier to transport agricultural products, strengthen trade, and promote the integration of the various communities in the department.

The former minister also emphasized education as a lever for social and economic transformation. He called for a reform of educational approaches to better prepare citizens for development challenges. “No sustainable progress is possible without a trained population, aware of its responsibilities and capable of innovating,” he argued.This meeting allowed participants to discuss several issues related to the economic future of the Northeast. The organizers hope that this dialogue will encourage the development of key projects, attract new investments, and boost local economic growth through better cooperation between the public and private sectors.
