The French goals were scored by Zinédine Zidane, who netted a header brace in the first half (27th and 45th+1), and then by Emmanuel Petit in the dying seconds of the match (90th+3).

The French team was managed by coach Aimé Jacquet, who gave Les Bleus their first world title in history. Didier Deschamps, the current coach of Les Bleus, was the captain of the winning team.
