The Advisory Council for Monitoring the Oil Market (CCSMP) recommends raising pump prices for petroleum products.
The Petroleum Market Monitoring Advisory Council (CCSMP) recommends an increase in fuel prices at the pump. This comes after they had recommended a price drop three times. This decision comes as the war led by the United States and Israel against Iran, which is affecting oil prices, continues.
In a statement issued after reviewing the technical note on the arrival of petroleum products on July 29, 2026, the Council suggests setting the price per gallon of gasoline at 700 gourdes, diesel at 770 gourdes, and kerosene at 765 gourdes.
This recommendation is part of the CCSMP’s advisory role and in line with the decree of March 27, 2026, which determines the procedures for setting petroleum product prices. The Council specifically refers to Article 2, regarding the mechanism for calculating pump prices, as well as Article 6.3, which governs the adjustment process afterward.According to the CCSMP, the analysis of the latest shipment shows a ‘significant gap’ between the prices currently applied at the pump and the actual prices resulting from the calculation mechanism. However, the Council believes that a full and immediate correction of this gap would have major consequences for consumers. It therefore advocates for a gradual increase in prices.
‘Pricing petroleum products can’t be approached solely from an accounting and budgetary standpoint,’ stresses the CCSMP, which points out the direct impact any fuel price increase has on transport costs, food prices, agriculture, trade, production, small businesses, and access to services.essentials.
Under these conditions, “an immediate application of all the calculated real prices could increase the economic and social vulnerability of households,” warns the CCSMP.
The organization thus says it favors “gradualism rather than a full pass-through of prices” and “balance rather than a sudden increase.” On this basis, it recommends prices of 700 gourdes for gasoline, 770 gourdes for diesel, and 765 gourdes for kerosene. The CCSMP presents these rates as an “economic and social compromise.”
