On X, political activist André Michel, spokesperson for the Democratic and Popular Sector (SDP), is encouraging stakeholders to favor dialogue in order to save the ongoing electoral process in Haiti. As of June 29, he notes, there is neither a budget nor a set schedule for the elections, while pointing out that the electoral decree is being challenged by the Provisional Electoral Council (CEP). He also laments the lack of improvement in the country’s humanitarian and security situation, even though the Prime Minister had committed to holding elections in 2026.
