Less than three months before the Central American and Caribbean Games, scheduled in the Dominican Republic from July 24 to August 8, 2026, Haitian weightlifting already stands out as one of the country’s most represented disciplines. With six qualified athletes, it currently has the largest contingent among Haitian individual sports.
Based at Parque del Este in Santo Domingo, the team is fine-tuning its preparation in a competitive environment, close to the venue of the events. The group, mainly composed of young athletes, shows encouraging progress and holds measured but real ambitions.
Among the qualified athletes, Jasily Polynis will compete in the 53 kg category with a total of 158 kg. Viollanda Oracin, a leading figure of the team in the 58 kg category, has a total of 195 kg. Francia Louis (77 kg) totals 190 kg, while Ketlene Primot (86 kg) reaches 220 kg. Among the men, Kimberson Pierre (79 kg) posts a solid total of 290 kg, and Felix(88 kg) 260 kg.
The head coach, Amarald Manoune, emphasizes the current dynamics of the group while remaining realistic about the challenges ahead: ‘We are preparing for the Central American Games that will take place in Santo Domingo in 2026. I think the team’s conditions are good. We are organizing ourselves to aim for at least one medal. We are counting a lot on Viollanda Oracin.’
