After the Prime Minister’s categorical refusal to approve the $250 million budget for organizing the elections, the Electoral Council announced in a statement that it sent another budget proposal to the government this week. While the statement did not mention an amount, sources within the electoral institution told Le Nouvelliste that the new budget is now a little over $220 million.
In the new electoral budget proposal, the cost of the upcoming elections should not be below $220 million, or perhaps slightly more, according to what three electoral advisors reached by phone on Thursday told Le Nouvelliste.
“We are still discussing the electoral budget. The amount has been revised downward and now ranges between $220 and $230 million,” an electoral advisor told Le Nouvelliste.
