The Ministry of Agriculture, Natural Resources and Rural Development (MARNDR) and the Embassy of the Republic of China (Taiwan) signed, on Thursday, May 21, 2026, a new memorandum of understanding aimed at improving the production of rice, vegetables, and fruits in Haiti.

The Ministry of Agriculture, Natural Resources and Rural Development (MARNDR) and the Embassy of the Republic of China (Taiwan) signed, on Thursday, May 21, 2026, a new memorandum of understanding aimed at improving the production of rice, vegetables, and fruits in Haiti. The ceremony notably brought together the Minister of Agriculture Marcelin Aubourg, Taiwanese Ambassador HU Cheng-Hao, as well as several officials from the agricultural sector. Launched in 2018, this project aims to strengthen national rice production in the main agricultural areas of the country, while supporting the development of vegetable and fruit sectors in order to promote food security and boost the Haitian agricultural economy, according to a statement from the ministry.
