The Iranian football team arrived in Mexico on Sunday, where its base camp for the World Cup is located, after Washington’s refusal to grant a visa to members of the coaching staff.
“We should have arrived last week because a 12-hour time difference requires two weeks of acclimatization,” said the team’s coach, Amir Ghalenoei, upon arriving at Tijuana airport.
“Normally in these competitions, before technical issues, one must respect ethical and human considerations, and that was not the case for us,” he added.
