IBC Airways launched its first flight connecting Fort Lauderdale to Les Cayes this Tuesday, June 16, 2026, marking a new step in strengthening its operations in southern Haiti.

The inaugural flight was operated on an Embraer ERJ-145XR, registered N291BC, under flight number CSQ861, with 30 passengers on board, including Haiti’s consul in Miami, Yverick Delerme.

According to the airline, this new route meets growing demand and aims to improve connectivity between Florida and the southern region. The flight arrived in Les Cayes around 10:30 in the morning.

IBC Airways plans two weekly rotations, on Tuesdays and Thursdays, bringing the total number of flights to the south to six, in addition to the routes already operated to Miami. Starting September 2, 2026, the airline will increase to eight flights per week, with two flights per day on Monday, Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday. For the company’s regional manager, Carmélie Montuma Ismaël, this development directly meets market needs. “We are seeing growing demand for the connection between Fort Lauderdale and the Greater South. We went from three flights a week in November 2025 to four in January 2026, then six today, and we will reach eight flights in September,” she said.

She added that this expansion also reflects user satisfaction and the importance of this route for the Haitian diaspora. “It allows sons and daughters of the Greater South to return home in better conditions, in just over two hours of flight,” emphasized Carmélie Montuma Ismaël.Among the passengers, several welcomed this new connection. “I’m very happy to be on this flight. I was already on the Miami flight, and this route brings me closer to my family,” one of them said. Another passenger feels that this route has a real impact on her daily life. “I finally got home. This flight makes the journey much more accessible. It’s a real relief,” she shared.

The Haitian consul in Miami, Yverick Delerme, who was on board, described it as an emotional moment. “I feel a great sense of pride taking part in this inaugural flight to Les Cayes, my birthplace,” he said, underlining his connection to the city. “Les Cayes remain the cradle of my memories, of our culture and our history,” he expressed.
