Haiti’s National Police (PNH) announced that they have opened an investigation to identify who fired shots during the medical students’ protest on Wednesday, July 1, 2026, on Bourdon Road.

The National Police of Haiti (PNH) announced the opening of an investigation to identify the shooter during the medical students’ protest on Wednesday, July 1, 2026, on the Bourdon road. According to the PNH, the driver of a Nissan Xterra, whose car had been damaged by protesters, fired into the air after trying to drive through the crowd. One student was injured. The High Command assures that all measures are being taken to find the shooter, determine the exact circumstances of the incident, and the nature of the student’s injuries, and promises that this act will not go unpunished, according to a statement from the institution.
