The 2026 Americas Investment Forum (FIA) kicked off yesterday in the Dominican Republic with a speech by President Luis Abinader, who made sure to highlight in his opening remarks the exponential growth of foreign business investments in the neighboring country. For 2025, these investments exceeded 5 billion dollars, President Abinader noted, emphasizing that this performance is thanks to the “climate of trust” his government has built over the past few years.”Let’s be clear, trust is the most valuable currency in the modern economy. “We have reached record levels of foreign direct investment, exceeding five billion dollars in 2025. We welcome over eleven million visitors every year, which solidifies our position among the top tourist destinations in the hemisphere. And our free trade zones, which generate more than two hundred thousand direct jobs and account for over sixty percent of our exports, have become one of the drivers of our productive transformation,” he stated.
For her part, Biviana Riveiro Disla, director of ProDominicana, the entity responsible for organizing the 2026 Americas Investment Forum, highlighted the attractiveness of the Dominican Republic for foreign direct investment during her speech.On this subject, she stated that the country continues to strengthen its position among the most attractive destinations for foreign direct investment in the region, recording a historic high of 5,032.8 million US dollars in 2025. This represents an increase of 11.3% compared to the previous year and 66.6% compared to 2019.
“This performance demonstrates investors’ confidence in the country’s economic stability, as well as the impact of a comprehensive strategy to promote, facilitate, and support investment carried out by ProDominicana. Between 2020 and 2026, this strategy has assisted more than 8,146 investors, generated over 11,550 investment leads, and supported 339 investment projects,” explained Ms. Riveiro Disla.
These remarks by the director of ProDominicana received the support of the Minister of Industry, Commerce, and SMEs, Eduardo Sanz Lovatón, who emphasized that the favorable business climate insEstablished by the government of Luis Abinader, it allowed the country to become the top recipient of foreign direct investment (FDI) in Central America and the Caribbean.

The eleven foreign companies recognized are: Helados Bon, Cementos Progreso, Grupo Rensa Solar, Microtek Dominicana, S.A., Grupo Iberostar, Smurfit Westrock Republica Dominicana, Hire Horatio, The Palace Company – Macao Alto Resort, Rolida Investments, Banco Promerica.Official delegations and representatives from the public and private sectors of over 52 countries are taking part in this forum, which aims to promote strategic alliances, facilitate new investment flows into high-impact projects, and analyze trends that are reshaping the continent’s economy.
