Besides the Prime Minister and members of his government, some political figures and a strong representation from the private sector and civil society attended the reception.
On the occasion of the 250th anniversary, the Haitian head of government reaffirmed the strong friendship between the Republic of Haiti and the United States of America, the Prime Minister’s Office reported in a statement.”In a spirit of respect and friendship between peoples, the head of government welcomed this historic event carrying the values of freedom and sovereignty, while reaffirming the strength of the friendship between the Republic of Haiti and the United States of America,” reads the statement in which the government renewed its wishes of prosperity to the American people.The message from the U.S. Secretary of State
On the same day, U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio addressed the world in a pre-recorded message. The message was broadcast on the Facebook page of the U.S. embassy in Port-au-Prince. The head of American diplomacy talked about the foundations of the American nation, pointing out that it was built on the belief that fundamental rights come from the Creator and that only the limits of dreams can hold back a people’s potential.
