“Around one in the morning, the bandits attacked Teleco. The soldiers of the Haitian Armed Forces held their position; they resisted until the arrival of the specialized units of the PNH. This allowed us to repel the bandits’ assault. Until noon this Sunday, we are on war footing,” said Mayor Massillon Jean.Another attack also took place at the start of the weekend near Viard, the city’s mayor revealed. “There was an attack at the start of the weekend near Viard. Thanks to the intervention of law enforcement, the criminals were pushed back. Two people were killed during the attack and two others were shot and injured. They were rushed to the hospital for the care their conditions required,” Massillon Jean explained to the newspaper.
“At the moment, the PNH officers, FAd’H soldiers, the task force, and the brigadiers are deployed on all fronts to try to regain control of the areas taken over by bandits,” he said.
“During their attacks, the bandits dug trenches to stop the police from advancing to their position. With support from civil society structures like the vigilance brigade, the PNH officers have repaired part of the trenches,” the mayor of Kenscoff said.
No collusion with the gangs, the mayor assures. “There is no collusion or any form of coexistence with the gangs. The fight against criminal groups in Kenscoff will continue until all five communal sections are freed,” Masillon Jean guaranteed“For over a week there have been alerts in the town. As the local authority, we informed the relevant security authorities. I commend the response of the police who were able to contain this new attack by bandits,” said Masillon Jean.
On the night of Monday, June 8 to Tuesday, June 9, 2026, members of the armed group launched an attack in the Bake area, within the 4th communal section of Belle-Fontaine, leaving two dead and one injured.
The victims were Henrilus Jean, director of the Saint-Étienne chapel, and his brother Jeanois Jean. Both men were killed during this incursion. A third resident, Kesnel Augustin, was wounded by a bullet. In addition to the violence, the attackers also took away 24 oxen, as well as an unknown number of pigs and goats belonging to the local farmers, according to the mayor of the city.
