Washington and Tehran held their first round of direct talks in the Pakistani capital two weeks ago, after agreeing to a temporary ceasefire in the conflict between the United States and Israel and Iran, but the two sides have yet to hold a second round of negotiations.
US envoy Steve Witkoff and the president’s son-in-law, Jared Kushner, were also scheduled to visit Islamabad soon.
